About Christina Winton, CPM
"The midwife can not be skilled without being caring. She can not be truly caring without being skilled."
Sheila Kitzinger
I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) licensed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. I started training to become a midwife in 2013 when my family moved back home to South-West Arkansas, after my husband finished his Marine Corps career.
My calling to midwifery and serving birthing women happened way before I officially started my training. While finishing high school, I knew I was being called to midwifery. I married my husband soon after graduation, and due to the military lifestyle, I chose to start serving families as a doula for friends starting in 2004. In 2010, I became a full time childbirth educator and doula.
I have attended hundreds of families as they birth, both at home and in the hospital. As a childbirth educator, I enjoy teaching both to homebirth clients and to families planning hospital births. I also serve as doula/monitrice for families choosing to birth in a hospital.
I have attended many conferences and workshops to augment the midwifery training and practice. I have experience in birth photography and work with bereaved families.
As the mother of seven children, I personally have a varied birthing background, including vaginal twins, breech vaginal birth, induction in hospital, homebirth, a Caesarian birth, and even the birth of a micro-preemie at 27 weeks. Each birth has helped me to grow as a person, a mother and as a birth worker.
