Midwifery and Birth Services in Texarkana
Midwifery Care
I provide all Midwifery care—prenatal appointments, birth and postpartum visits are done at either of my two office locations. I see clients in De Queen on Tuesdays and in Texarkana on Thursdays. I always see you in your home for at least one visit prior to labor I really love the dynamic of meeting with families in the same space they will deliver.

Prenatal checkups--I will see you every 4 weeks from the first visit until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks, weekly from 36 to 41 weeks, and every 2 to 3 days during weeks 41 and 42. Each prenatal visit is approximately 30 to 60 minutes in duration. During this time, we will talk about how you are doing physically and emotionally. This is also your devoted time to ask any questions you have and to get answers so that you are able to make informed choices for you and your baby. I will also check all of your vitals, measure your belly, and listen to baby, assuring that mom and baby are healthy and low-risk.
*Arkansas clients will see either the local health unit or a CNM for a risk assessment at the start of care and again at 36 weeks, per state regulations.
Free Consultations
Anyone who is interested in homebirth and midwifery care, I would love to sit and visit with you about your options.

*NOTE: Other expenses not covered include lab work processing, ultrasounds, birth tub rental, and birth kit.
On Call for Your Birth—From 37 weeks through 42 weeks, I am available 24/7 for when your labor begins.

At Your birth—I will provide physical and emotional support while providing gentle monitoring of the baby and mom. Also providing assessment and support throughout labor and birth, I bring all my emergency supplies to every homebirth as well as homeopathies and essential oils for those who wish to use them. I stay at least 2 hours post-birth, and during this time, we help mom and baby establish breastfeeding and bonding. I perform a newborn exam and monitor mom for any complications as well. A qualified birth assistant, whom you will meet during your prenatal care at least once and then again at your birth, will also be present.

Postpartum care—I provide at least 4 postpartum check ups, the 1-2 day is always in-home with the remaining 3 being in office visits, the first at 1-2 day and others at 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks postpartum. At these visits, I will assess mom’s physical and emotional recovery, as well as assure that baby’s feeding is well established, and baby is doing well overall. I offer breastfeeding support and resources for postpartum recovery. At the 12 to 24 hour check, I provide pulse oximetry testing (testing for congenital heart defects) for baby, I will file your birth certificate and automatically file for the social security number for your baby.
Doula Services
I am occasionally open to accepting doula clients for moms who want the support of a midwife but not a homebirth. On a very limited basis, due to my case load as a midwife. I always suggest clients look at Four States Doulas for local doula support.
Water Birth
Waterbirth is a gentle and peaceful way to welcome baby into the world. I do have birth pools available to rent for a small fee. Your birth pool rental will come with the pool, a liner, and an accessories bag including an air pump to inflate and a submersible pump to empty the pool, a floating thermometer and mirror.
Childbirth Education Classes
This class is perfect for all families, regardless of whether you are hiring me as your midwife or choosing a hospital birth. Knowledge is power, and informed decision making is key to a positive birth experience. This is a 3 or 5 week mindful childbirth series taught in 60 or 90 minute sessions, where you will learn about the natural stages and phases of labor, a variety of pain coping techniques and will be empowered about your choices in birth. This cost is $150 for families, which is included in my midwifery package at no additional charge.
”I think one of the best things we could do, would be to help women/parents/families discover their own birth power, from within themselves. And to let them know it’s always been there, they just needed to tap into it.”
–John H. Kennell, MD
